Abstract
Mycelial fragments from six filamentous fungi, encapsulated in calcium alginate, were used in the biotransformation of 17β-hydroxy-androst-4-en-3-one. The results were compared with those found using growing cells. The substrate was hydroxylated at sites indicated.
