Abstract
- The catalytic activity of two yeast strains (K. marxianus and P. jardinii) is reported.
- Aldol reaction is carried out by whole yeast cells from these microorganims in acetone.
- Stereoselective reduction of racemic aldol products is performed in aqueous solvent.
- Resolution of the racemic aldol is carried out by K. marxianus in the reduction reaction.
- Complementary enantioselectivity was shown by both microorganisms in the generation of the new stereogenic center.
