Abstract
► Hydrogen permeation behavior during phase transformation in TRIP steel was evaluated. ► New permeation technique avoids rupture of Pd layer even under plastic deformation. ► Dislocation generation and martensitic decomposition of γ govern hydrogen permeation. ► Phase transformation from γ to α′ leads to increase in hydrogen diffusivity and flux. ► Increase in permeation flux is due to the increase in the fraction of mobile hydrogen.
