“Swipe and Scan”: Integration of sampling and analysis of gunshot metal residues at screen-printed electrodes

► The collection of GSR samples is a crucial step in forensic analysis. ► We integrate GSR sampling and electroanalysis at microfabricated carbon sensor-strips. ► Protocol uses mechanical transfer of surface confined GSR from the hand of a suspect. ► GSR transferred to electrode surface is ready for analysis - no intermediate processes. ► This shows promise as a system to identify a subject who has discharged a firearm.
