Abstract
⺠Gasoline, ethanol and methanol ternary blends can be invisible to flex-fuel vehicles. ⺠Blending these fuels like this extends ethanol's reach further into the fuel pool. ⺠Using fossil methanol, such blends can be cheaper than gasoline on an energy basis. ⺠Making methanol renewably therefore allows further displacement of fossil energy. ⺠The approach improves energy security and increases penetration of renewable energy.
