Abstract
⺠The economic performance of the main CO2-free clean coal technologies are compared. ⺠A coal-fired 660 MWe power plant located in S-W Sardinia is considered as reference. ⺠Coal gasification results the most profitable technology for a CO2-free plant. ⺠Supercritical combustion can be competitive for “partial capture”. ⺠A CO2-free plant can be profitable only with a significant financial support.
