Abstract
► Effects of injection parameters on soot mass entrainment process are determined. ► Soot formation in crevice is insignificant as compared to entrainment via blowby. ► Amount of soot found near cylinder liner are higher than those in the crevice region. ► Close-coupled injection reduces soot entrainment. ► Delayed split injection with large separation produces greatest soot entrainment.
