Abstract
⺠A prototype of hydraulic free piston engine is developed. ⺠Stable running of the prototype is realized. ⺠Detailed studying of an experiment of the prototype is presented and analyzed. ⺠The piston dynamics, combustion process and the hydraulic characteristics are verified by experiments. ⺠The indicated thermal efficiency and the indicated mean effective pressure have been obtained by the experiments.
