Abstract
Results highlighted several interesting points concerning the relationships that occur among attention and calculation skills. Findings showed that attention plays a pivotal role in arithmetic performances. Different components of attention affected written calculation ability, numerical knowledge, calculation accuracy and calculation speed in children attending primary school. Statistical analyses for each scholastic grade showed that attention is of key importance in acquiring calculation skill.
