Abstract
⺠Nordic hydro power is well suited for power system balancing. ⺠The export of balancing services from Nordic to continental Europe is proposed to handle intermittent power production. ⺠An integrated Northern European regulating power market is analysed. ⺠There are significant possibilities of exchanging regulating capacity as well as regulating energy. ⺠The regulating market integration reduces the activation of regulating reserve and the socio-economic costs.
