Abstract
In this paper, the design of a damping controller for a STATCOM using periodic output feedback technique is presented. By this technique, a very simple controller, in the form of a gain matrix only, is obtained, which is effective over a range of operating conditions. As a result, the control system designed by the proposed technique is very easy to implement. The effectiveness of the proposed technique has been validated through detailed non-linear simulation studies on 10-machine-39 bus New England system.
