Abstract
A broadband direct conversion receiver is developed using a metamaterial transmission line (MTM TL). This receiver is designed based on a new five-port structure and a 90° phase shifter over desired frequency range. The receiver consists of five Wilkinson power dividers and two phase adjusting TLs, namely a MTM TL and a microtrip TL over frequency range of 2.3-5.8 GHz. The receiver is compact and inexpensive and operates in a very wide bandwidth. The numerical and microwave simulations have been conduct to investigate the characteristics of the receiver. As a practical application, three WiMAX frequency bands is covered by one receiver using this new architecture.
