Abstract
We proposed a simple structure optical fiber temperature sensor, which is easy to be fabricated and used. The fiber sensor is made by polishing the optical fiber end to be 30° angle and its operating principle is based on Michelson interferometer. In order to demonstrate the performance of the fabricated temperature sensor, we carried out low temperature experiment (â40â¯Â°C-140â¯Â°C) and high temperature experiment (250â¯Â°C-900â¯Â°C) with two different kinds of thermostats. The results show us that the temperature sensitivity of the sensor increases with increasing temperature both in the low temperature range (â40â¯Â°C-140â¯Â°C) and in the high temperature range (250â¯Â°C-900â¯Â°C). The measured temperature sensitivity is 9.5â¯pm/°C at â40â¯Â°C and the measured temperature sensitivity is 17.86â¯pm/°C at 900â¯Â°C.
