Abstract
In a wireless sensor network, the use of mobile sink brings new challenges to these networks. The advertisement of the mobile sink position to the sensor nodes is one of these challenges that is a core problem for any routing protocol. In this paper, we propose a new routing protocol based on virtual cellular infrastructure. The proposed protocol uses virtual infrastructure in a different way from the previous protocols. The proposed protocol instead of saving and updating the sink position in the infrastructure, which causes more energy consumption, uses the infrastructure and the properties of the cells to create a routing between cluster heads. Therefore, there is no need to save and update the sink position in all or some of the nodes in the network. We perform extensive simulations on the proposed schemes and the results are compared with the existing algorithms to demonstrate their superiority in terms of various performance metrics.
