Abstract
This is the first examination of glucose dynamics following intermittent gastric feeds in a critical care setting. A small crossover clinical study could demonstrate that patients with stress hyperglycemia require less insulin following intermittent, not continuous, enteric feeds. Preliminary data from a clinical trial is reviewed and is found consistent with the results reported here.
