Abstract
⺠We combine bone cell population kinetics with multiscale bone mechanics. ⺠Preosteoblast proliferation and osteoclast differentiation are influenced by microstrains. ⺠Microstrains are determined from concentration relations of continuum micromechanics. ⺠Simulations of osteoporosis- and microgravity-driven bone loss agree well with experiments.
