Abstract
► We establish a series of approaches for model testing of agent-based models (ABMs). ► We use a swarm intelligence ABM for the purpose of the comprehensive model testing. ► A null model is developed to better understand behaviour within the ABM. ► Model testing results revealed that the model implementation and performance matches its design.
