Abstract
⺠We present a new open source 3D segmentation and visualization software (YaDiV). ⺠YaDiV has low hardware requirements, can adapt to new approaches and is open source. ⺠It supports volume analysis and high quality visualization, including stereo viewing. ⺠We show its practical use for geology, here for petrological rock texture analysis. ⺠We introduce a virtual test scan to compare the 3D analysis with previous 2D methods.
