Abstract
⺠A layerwise finite element formulation of a new higher-order shear deformation theory is presented. ⺠The theory accounts for non-linear variation of in-plane and transverse displacement through the thickness. ⺠The theory also accounts for adequate transverse shear deformation. ⺠The theory satisfies transverse shear traction free conditions on the top and the bottom surfaces. ⺠The accuracy of the present code is ascertained by comparing it with available results in the literature.
