Abstract
An off-axis multi-projection integral imaging (OA-MPII) system with calibrated elemental image arrays (EIAs) based on a pixel-position mapping (PPM) scheme is proposed. In the proposed system, EIAs for each off-axis projector are generated from the reference EIA (R-EIA) by being calibrated with the PPM functions determined by positions and orientation angles of those projectors. These calibrated EIAs (C-EIAs) as well as the R-EIA are then projected into the whole plane of the convex mirror array (CMA) with their corresponding projectors, and finally integrated into a resolution-enhanced 3-D object image without distortion. Ray-optical analysis and optical experiments with a test 3-D object confirm the feasibility of the proposed system.
