Abstract
⺠In the solutions containing N-oxides vitamin C undergoes atmospheric oxidation more readily than in pure water. ⺠Up to the very low AA concentration zero order kinetics is observed suggesting heterogeneous catalytic reaction. ⺠At higher pH more AA molecules are present in the form of ascorbate monoanion which undergoes oxidation much more readily. ⺠MEDA is the most effective promoter of AA oxidation.
