Abstract
ⶠCopper, chromium and mercury ions were adsorbed on natural and crosslinked (GLA and ECH) chitosan films. ⶠXPS analyses showed that these metals bind differently on GLA-crosslinked chitosan. ⶠCopper(II) stabilization was found to be poor in GLA-crosslinked chitosan. ⶠHg(II) ions present higher adsorption capacity in this kind of matrix. ⶠChromium(VI) was reduced in all three matrices.
