Abstract
► Coalescence exhibits DSD (drop size distribution) broadening with time. ► Ostwald ripening can display both DSD broadening and sharpening with time. ► The mechanistic information regarding growth mechanisms was extracted from DSDs. ► Ostwald ripening is dominant at high surfactant concentrations. ► Coalescence is important when surfactant concentration is low.
