Abstract
⺠We used cryoSEM to study the microstructure of paint suspensions at different time points in a freeze-thaw (FT) cycle. ⺠In a FT cycle, particle aggregation occurs during the thawing process. ⺠Slow thawing conditions enhance particle aggregation. ⺠We postulate a mechanism based on the kinetics of aggregation during the individual steps in the FT cycle.
