Abstract
⺠Using choline as counterion improves the solubility of alkylsulfate surfactants. ⺠The Krafft point and cmc of choline dodecylsulfate (ChDS) were determined. ⺠Cytotoxicity studies show that ChDS is as harmless as SDS. ⺠Experiments with excess salt confirm the concept of matching water affinities. ⺠Choline alkylsulfates represent a promising class of efficient green surfactants.
