Abstract
⺠We present a new linear tribometer for measuring friction of rubber on ice. ⺠We study the frictional behaviour with different sliding conditions and rubbers. ⺠We discuss the mechanisms operating during sliding. ⺠Îeat flow model to calculate friction coefficients and compare with experiments. ⺠Stick-slip behaviour at high loads and with compliant rubber compounds.
