Abstract
This work deals with the nonlinear control of a three cylinders spark ignition (SI) engine using a fuzzy control strategy based on a Takagi–Sugeno (TS) modeling and robust control approach. A physical model of the SI engine is presented and transformed into a TS model. Then, a robust nonlinear fuzzy control algorithm is developed and applied to two different engine torque control structures. This approach is tested on a three cylinder SI engine test bench to prove the effectiveness of the method.
