Abstract

- A tubular reactor with catalytic foam has been evaluated in co-current G-L up-flow.
- Pd/Al2O3 coating without deactivation or intrinsic activity loss in AMS hydrogenation.
- Low pressure drop and quasi-ideal plug flow hydrodynamics have been determined.
- Correlations for liquid hold up and external mass transfer have been proposed.
- Foam internals exhibit very attractive performance compared to packed beds.
