Abstract
- Porous silicon (PSi) carriers were prepared by electrochemical etching process.
- Surface passivation of the PSi carriers was carried out by thermal oxidation.
- Acyclovir was loaded into native and thermally oxidized PSi.
- Slower (up to 8Â h) and immediate (up to 3Â h) release of acyclovir was observed.
- Drug release behaviour and release kinetics from PSi carriers were studied.
