Abstract
One dimensional mathematical model is developed to investigate the purge sector angle of the desiccant wheel for different operating conditions. The model shows good agreement with the experimental results obtained from the literature. In this paper the purge section is installed in the regeneration section and conduct a comparative performance analysis in both the directions of rotation (clockwise and anticlockwise) of the desiccant wheel with different purge sector angles. It was found that anticlockwise direction gives better dehumidification for the given purge angle at any operating condition; the performance parameter (rotation of wheel, velocity and ambient moisture) results better in lower purge sector angle (5° to 10°) as compared to higher purge angles while in case of regeneration temperature, purge sector angle of 15° gives better performance results as compared to other purge sector angles.
