Abstract
⺠Heat transfer to a synthetic jet is reported for a range of experimental parameters. ⺠Increasing confinement of the synthetic jet is shown to adversely affect its cooling performance. ⺠This is due to recirculation of heated air and reduced entrainment of cooler ambient air. ⺠Ducting is added to improve heat transfer by drawing cold air from a remote location into the jet flow. ⺠Ducting is shown to increase the heat transferred to the jet by 36% on an area average basis.
