Abstract

•This review recapitulate the substantial progress on the synthesis of mesoporous titania.•Due to the large band gap energy of anatase, it has great photoresponse properties.•Titania can utilize solar light freely and can be applied to degrade some organic contaminant.

Mesoporous materials have a remarkable interest due to their exceptional characteristics and favorable applications in various fields of technology. Mesoporous Titanium Dioxide is one of the most broadly studied materials owing to its tremendous applications. In this review, we recapitulate the substantial progress on the synthesis of mesoporous titania in term of its enhanced surface areas, particle size, as well as porosity. Due to its attractive properties along with inexpensive available chemicals for synthesis has made this nanomaterial rising star in various industrial technologies. Current applications, future aspects and challenges in this field are also emphasized and discussed.
