Abstract

Results of studies of the sorption activity of pristine and activated (with Na2CO3 solution) zeolite and a composite based on zeolite and bentonite with respect to Fe2+, Cu2+, Al3+, Pb2+ are presented. The influence of zeolite particle size, activation, and its duration on the degree of sorption of heavy metal ions from phosphoric acid is reported. The activation of zeolite by sodium carbonate solution increases its sorption capacity for these ions substantially. The highest degrees of acid purification were achieved in the first 5 min of the process with removal of 60.2% for Fe, 95.4% for Al, 99.0% for Pb and 96.6% for Cu of the initial concentrations.
