The synthesis of mesoporous Al-KIT-6 is synthesized by direct hydrothermal method with different Si/Al ratios (20, 30, 50, 100 and 150) were characterized by XRD, ICP-AES, BET, SEM and HR-TEM. Mesoporous Al-KIT-6 was synthesized from assembly of polymer surfactant micelle as a template in acidic media. Mesoporous Al-KIT-6 was good phase purity from XRD analysis. The HR-TEM picture of Al-KIT-6 (50) showed formation of particles of cubic morphology and SEM images are also shown rod like morphology. α-n-Amylcinnamaldehyde (jasminaldehyde) has been prepared with high selectivity and using low ratios of benzaldehyde/heptanal by means of mesoporous Al-KIT-6 molecular sieves.
Graphical abstractMesoporous cubic Ia3d materials were synthesized from assembly of polymer surfactant micelle as a template in acidic media. The Al-KIT-6 mesoporous catalysts were used in the liquid phase condensation reaction at different temperature ranging from 60 to 160 °C. It has very good selectivity and high conversion than any other mesoporous catalysts. The products are jasminaldehyde, which is of maximum selectivity and 2-pentyl-non-2-enol which is a by-products that has minimum selectivity.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slideHighlights► Al-KIT-6 behaves as an active and selective catalyst for this reaction. ► It has achieved 90% conversion after 12 h of reaction time at 120 °C. ► Al-KIT-6 as a convenient catalyst for selective production of jasminaldehyde.
