Abstract
BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes) are among the most dangerous VOCs (volatile organic compounds) emitted into the atmosphere. Since they have carcinogenic effects, World Health Organization (WHO) has set minimum exposure levels for living and working areas. In order to respect these levels, real-time and easily transportable analyzers are needed. This paper reviews recent colorimetric-based portable devices for high sensitive and real time BTEX analysis.
