Abstract
⺠Historical work is useful in understanding socio-technical energy transitions. ⺠Different governance modes have led to transitions with different characteristics. ⺠Gas regimes operating under market and state 'logics' took decisions differently. ⺠Decisions at key branching points led to path dependency, affecting later decisions. ⺠Agency, governance and trust were important elements in the transitions analysed.
