Abstract
⺠Over 50 metals and their usage in six low-carbon energy technologies are analysed. ⺠14 metals are identified that will require 1% or more of the 2010 world supply per annum. ⺠The 14 metals are further examined with respect to market and geo-political factors. ⺠5 metals Nd, Dy, In, Te and Ga are a high risk to large-scale technology deployment. ⺠Demand for the 5 metals increases for sub-technology choices in PV and wind energy.
