Abstract
⺠Analyses the evolution of energy intensity over two centuries of industrialisation. ⺠Increased specialisation of the fuel mix and convergence of economies continues to improve energy efficiency. ⺠Growth in per capita income over the next 20 years need not be constrained by resource availability.
