Abstract
⺠Data and estimates unique to China are used in this analysis. ⺠Use of starch-based bio-ethanol will incur a substantial carbon disbenefit in China. ⺠Use of methanol derived from coal will incur even more carbon disbenefit. ⺠Plug-in-hybrid with cellulosic ethanol and clean electricity may be a viable option.
