Analysis and decomposition of the energy intensity of California industries

► We performed a decomposition analysis on California industry energy use. ► The logarithmic mean Divisia index method is used. ► Results show that energy use reduction was due to efficiency and structural effects. ► Intensity effect was slightly larger than increase in low-intensive subsectors.
