Abstract
⺠Energy consumption and GDP are the main causes to increased GHG emissions in the shipping industry. ⺠Emissions from shipping are more closely related to energy consumption than to GDP. ⺠Policies to mitigate GHG emissions from shipping industry should focus on the engine and hull design.
