Abstract
This celebration for Professor Ingemar Lundström on the occasion of his commencement as a Professor Emeritus deservedly recounts his distinguished career as educator, innovator and leader in the development of sensor science and technology. We discuss the potentially important contributions that emeritus professors can make through involving undergraduates in multi-disciplinary, cross-cutting (MDCC or 1700) research areas. Some examples are presented.
