Abstract

Large-scale and uniform porous magnetite nanoparticles with average diameter of 60 nm were successfully prepared using a facile hydrothermal approach without employing any surfactants or templates. These nanoparticles were self-assembled by using external magnetic field and employed to modify glassy carbon electrode, which displayed excellent electrochemical sensitivity in detecting dopamine in phosphate buffer solution and could selectively distinguish dopamine in the presence of ascorbic acid. A linear relationship between the concentrations of dopamine and its oxidation peak currents was obtained, which might find potential application in the biosensors.
