Abstract

•We report green synthesis of rGO-Aunano composite by rose water as reducing agent.•UV–vis, XRD spectra, SEM and AFM images indicate preparation of rGO-Aunano composite.•A direct electron transfer reaction of glucose oxidase was observed on rGO-Aunano/GC electrode.•This composite film was also successfully applied in preparation of glucose biosensor.

Here, we report an eco-friendly method for synthesis of reduced graphene oxide decorated with gold nanoparticles (rGO-Aunano) by using rose water as reducing agent. The prepared materials were characterized using UV–visible absorption spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Furthermore, the direct electrochemistry of glucose oxidase (GOD) was achieved at a glassy carbon electrode modified with rGO-Aunano. The resulting biosensor exhibited good response to glucose with linear range from 1 to 8 mM with a low detection limit of 10 μM.
