Abstract

WO3 nanotubes have been successfully synthesized by electrospinning and followed by calcination. The synthesized WO3 nanotubes have been characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). Based on the experimental results, the average diameter of the WO3 nanotubes is about 200 nm. Gas sensors based on WO3 nanotubes were made in order to investigate their gas sensing properties. The gas sensing measurements were evaluated toward different concentration of some gases including acetone, ethanol, methanol, ammonia, hydrogen, carbon monoxide and butane at 250 °C. The results reveal that the WO3 nanotubes are promising acetone sensing material owing to their high response and good selectivity.
