Abstract
Numerical investigation of a sensor based on a two micro disk system is performed with the finite difference time domain method. The results show that this two micro disk system is able to detect single nanoparticles unlike a similar one micro disk sensor. The sensitivity of this system relative to the gap between the micro disks, their thickness, and the surrounding media is also investigated.
