Abstract
A comparison of nanostructured one-dimensional sensing elements is presented. Advantages and limitations of synthesis and incorporation of these elements fabricated via thermal evaporative condensation and electrospinning are discussed. These single-crystal or polycrystalline elements are tested in a chemiresistor configuration. Catalyst nanoparticles are surface applied to enhance response. Response magnitude, rate and operating temperature form the basis for comparative evaluation.
