Abstract

We describe the original approach to the application of the cross-reactive arrays of sensors for the registration and recognition of volatile molecules of several alcohols. The approach is based on the digital registration of RGB components variation in interferentially colored sensitive calixarene films. Our approach has many advantages in design as compared with other ones and permits to expand the database to identify molecules and simultaneously diminish the number of sensors. The study of the recognition processes led to the optimization of the vapour-sensing device; it was shown that using the statistical methods and Hopfield neuron network the recognition of several analytes (ethanol, isopropanol and penthanol) can be done using only one film of tetra-amyl-calyx[4]resorchinolarene.
