Abstract

The methanol vapor sensor was developed using glass films and their electrochemical activities were analyzed. The structure of EMD (Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide) used as reference electrodes and sensing mechanism on the working electrode were discussed. The performance of methanol vapor sensor using glass films was affected by different factors that were addressed. The sensing abilities, including sensitivity, reproducibility, response time and recovery time, to 1% methanol vapor in air at 25 °C, were investigated. An evaluation of the response to methanol vapor by using glass film as an electrolyte was described in this present paper.
