Abstract
Embryo and oocyte vitrification are two techniques currently approved and practised in France, though the adoption of each has met with resistance. Since both appear to offer particular advantages and disadvantages, could the latter not be considered an alternative to the former? This paper aims to focus on the qualitative differences between the techniques, and highlight the ethical misgivings raised by each (problems relating to storage, consent, concerns regarding eugenics, the right of partners in a couple to independent choiceâ¦). Lastly, it will question on the symbolic paternity share of the state, a legal entity interfering with the couple.
